“After a lifelong interest I gained a first class degree in fine art in 2014 and since graduating have continued my practice from a locally based studio, exhibiting at locations across Lancashire.
The recurring themes in my work are of landscapes, still life and the human form expressed in figurative painting and drawing.
I enjoy observing and record images directly from life where possible, using sketches and photography only as aids. Oil paint is my preferred medium but I also love the speed and immediacy of ink and watercolours. My landscapes tend to be ‘freer’ in style and informed by an interest in the history and heritage of the area and man’s impact on its scenery.
Using a variety of media in these works enables me to convey a mood or atmosphere depending on the light, the setting and the weather.”
